Pardon My Forgetfulness

Ever wake up out of sleep wondering how you forgot to do a bunch of stuff, as if you kinda slipped off on the current of a busy schedule and forgot about all your other commitments? I guess that's the thing about it all, kinda links back to the Cheat Day post, if you aren't organised you're slipping...

Me After Waking Up From A Nap Earlier

I've had umpteen things to do in the past few weeks that include scheduling posts for Up In The Ear, recording verses and mixing tracks, to sending interview questions to artist representatives. Between a full time job, a loving partner, being distracted by the TV, being distracted by scrolling around apps on my iPhone and checking feeds and sending posts to pocket, not to mention all the desires of clothes and shoes you find on the internetz, it's quite hard to keep focus if you haven't got you mind and priorities mapped out.

Maybe I need to create some PD [personal development] time for myself, just like at work although rather than get broken promises, I'd actually schedule time for queue posting, creating music, writing and personal development in regards to software and progression.

The Stench Offensive

Since my car has been in the garage, having been afflicted with all types of ailments, I've been riding the bus to work. Some journeys are better than others, sometimes I get to sit down with no one sitting next to me and other times someone sits next to me with that smell... I have no idea what the smell is but dependant on who it is, it could smell like a combination of moth balls, fish, fry up, stale rice noodles and dry shit. Words can't begin to describe my discomfort, especially when I have to crack a window and it's freezing outside.

I'm not being discriminatory in the slightest but I've began to attribute particular fragrances to particular cultures and ethnicities, as weird as it sounds it's the truth. Some ethnicities and cultures use particular types of fragrance, incense and cook particular foods -native to them. But then again some people just smell rotten, I mean really rotten and whether it's down to not bathing for several days or the lack of deodorant or washing their garments is unknown. I really don't know how some people have the audacity to invade your personal space with their odours: whether it be body odour, their breath: a combination of decaying bacteria and seaweed or that smell that no one can describe...

You know that stench that no one else can describe but it makes you bulk because you can't seem to put a name to it: like I really can't add anything more because this isn't a blog about specifics, I just can't deal with it. I've gotten to the point in life that when I'm walking I seem to hold my breath when walking past anyone who seems like they'll cause damage to my nostrils.

Have you ever had your nasal hairs burnt by someone's stench?

Well I have and it weren't nice as I didn't expect it. That's right, I think it'll be a great idea to start a band of vigilantes called the Stench Offensive who'll extinguish any offending smells when you dial 666. They can even come through with some religious iconography too as all these abysmal smells are just erm just like well you know [refuse to swear so bear with me as I think of a great word to end this -or just pretend that this is it].

I Cheated Myself

I've been eating clean for a week and a bit now and I've been feeling great. I've been waking up to eat breakfast, I've also made myself lunch and been drinking copious amounts of water however today I cheated myself. I didn't buy a pack of rolls from Tesco's to make my cheese rolls, nor did I buy a bag of bananas to accompany my lunch or ever the 12pk of water bottles. I've been so used to spending no money that it was hard to make up my mind when it came to eat something, would I go to McDonald's -using a voucher where you get a burger and fries for £2.00gbp or was I going to treat myself to something 'clean' and 'healthy' which may have cost me more than a working weeks worth of rolls.

I walked out of work and flirted with the prospect of going to McDonald's for a split second but I figured that since I was going to 'junk it out' and get dirty, I had to do it right. I thought about how great Burger King's 'King Of The Day' offer and visualised getting my teeth into a Whopper. I arrived to find the Chicken Royale on the menu and ordered the meal for £3.99gbp -the clerk asked me whether I wanted to go large and I gladly accepted. My total order was £4.40gbp -a total of two days packed lunch.

My Tuesday Cheat Meal

When I got back into work I started to feel seedy, I had made a covenant with the universe that I wouldn't eat dirty. How can I justify my actions, my motive for eating clean was to be done in the grand scheme of becoming healthier?
I then reassured myself that I had done well to get this far and to save as much as I did over the past week and a bit. If I were to add up what I used to spend compared to what I saved, I saw it as something to celebrate, a cheat day if you will.

Just because I had a cheat day today, it made me realise how important preparation is and probably the importance of following my instincts -even if it was to purchase the rolls on the route home for lunch the next few days.

I faltered after ten days, let's see if I can get to twenty...

Is A Difference In Opinion Really Hate?

Too many people attribute an alternative opinion with 'hating'. A generation of bloggers, journalists and critics are scared to say the wrong things to avoid displeasing artists, pr companies and brands for fear of falling out of favour with them.

Honesty is always best

What happened to the days of an honest review, an honest point of view and an honest blog?

Are we deprived of such things due to business/brand conduct and the lack of anonymity, or is honesty way too risky in the era of disingenuous flattery where most give undue respect and admiration simply because of who they're connected to?
This 'lack of honesty' is what's ruining it for everyone else because the lines between the uninspiring, mediocre and exceptional have become blurred. This isn't creative snobbery, it's quite the opposite because I find that all opinions that oppose the status quo are shot down and demonised -quite like the established trend of speaking out against injustice.

We seem to live in contrived times, in a culture where a majority of folk are happy to follow a trend rather than follow their deepest desire to go against it. There's a few of us who seem to be on the same page but I think I need to start doing my part to make a change...
